Belgium synthpop duo Munatix announce their debut album
It’s been a while, after a couple of quiet years Munatix are back with a bang, and the news of their debut album, available from this Friday on CD via their band website. We’ve cover some of their previous releases such as 2020’s You Just Keep Hanging On and the brilliant Burning Up from 2021. Well, the duo from Genk in Belgium have in recent weeks had a viral hit online with their cover of Depeche Mode's classic track Just Can't Get Enough. The video has already racked up well over 285,000 views and over 10,000 likes !

And now on the back of this online success, Munatix are celebrating the release of their long-awaited debut album "Retrofied" with an exclusive CD release on Friday, April 26, 2024. The album, influenced by synthpop greats like Giorgio Moroder, Jean-Michel Jarre, Erasure, and Depeche Mode, features 12 original tracks showcasing Munatix's unique sound.
Retrofied" is more than just a debut album; it's a love letter to the synthpop music of the 80s. The catchy melodies, driving rhythms, and nostalgic soundscapes are sure to appeal to fans of electronic music and retro enthusiasts alike. Indeed, their studio is a dream come true for any synth-heads (like me) with classic originals such as the Korg Polysix, Sequential Prophet, Oberheim OB-8, Roland Jupiter 4 & TR-909 and Yamaha DX7 (not to mention the Casio VL-1 !!!) to name but a few. Their sound is pure 80’s electro magic, but with a modern 21st edge to it, bringing it right up to date.
