Acres release explosive cover for HIM’s "Buried Alive By Love"
UK metalcore heavyweights Acres have today unveiled an explosive cover of HIM’s iconic Buried Alive By Love, alongside the announcement of the deluxe edition of their latest album “The Host”, set for release on the 6th November via Solid State Records.
The new version Buried Alive By Love sees Acres put their own spin on the classic track, bringing a heavier, modern edge to one of HIM’s most beloved songs.
Speaking on the cover, vocalist Ben Lumber shares: “When we were planning a cover HIM were instantly the first band that came to mind. They’ve been such a huge part of my life and honestly one of the main reasons I ever wanted to be in a band. When I was younger, my friends and I would spend hours in the garage learning and playing HIM songs so getting to bring Buried Alive By Love into the world of Acres all these years later feels like a proper full circle moment. It’s our way of paying respect to a band that had a massive part in shaping who I am as a musician.”

“The Host” (Deluxe) is the expanded edition of Acres acclaimed latest album, set for release November 6th via Solid State Records. Bringing together the full “The Host” album and their “What It’s Like to Feel Worthless” EP, the deluxe edition also features a collection of new and reworked material, including their cover of HIM’s Buried Alive By Love, a Bloodlust remix, an acoustic version of Staring at the Sun, alongside live versions of Not So Different and Built To Bleed.
Ben adds: “‘The Host' has always felt closely connected to the What It’s Like to Feel Worthless EP, so doing a deluxe version felt like the perfect way to bring those two worlds together and close out this era of the band. We loved the idea of putting everything into one record, but also giving people something new with the additional tracks and different versions of songs. We’ve always been into reworking our music whether that’s stripping a song back, a live version or letting it exist in a completely different way. As music fans ourselves, we’ve always loved when bands give you another side of a record you already know, so it felt right to do that with 'The Host.’”

Acres are heading out on a UK/EU headline tour this October in support of their latest album, “The Host”, with Wayside, What Lies Below and Lifespark joining them across the run. The band will make stops across the UK before heading into Europe, with dates including Bristol’s The Exchange, Manchester’s Rebellion, London’s Downstairs At The Dome and Southampton’s The Joiners. The tour continues across Europe, wrapping up at Wiesbaden’s Schlachthof on November 1st.
