Gogol Bordello return with explosive new single "We Mean It, Man"

Gogol Bordello are back with explosive new music ahead of their return to the UK this Autumn.

Released via founder and Ukrainian frontman Eugene Hütz’s Casa Gogol Records, We Mean It, Man, is the band’s first original song in over three years. The tenacious new track sets the tone for a run of eagerly awaited gigs in the UK - which includes a SOLD OUT show in Brighton on 24th October, plus stops at iconic venues such as the Albert Hall in Manchester and two nights at the Electric Ballroom in London. (Full details below).

You can stream the new single We Mean It, Man on your preferred platform HERE.

Three decades into their career, We Mean It, Man is as enigmatic and unpredictable as anything Gogol Bordello have ever made. A frenzy of punk sizzled distortion and a ground-scorching call-to-arms, it’s a track that finds Gogol Bordello reacting to the global thermometer in flaming style. Of the track frontman Eugene Hütz says:

“‘We Mean It, Man’ is like taking the inner temperature of the eternal seeker and surfer of positive vibrations. It’s someone who is bellydancing on status quo-tables and healing itself from the world’s lies and irony while reaching for rays of joyous healing unity. This is the inner temperature of Gogol Bordello.”

With frontman Hütz firing out its chorus of “We mean it, man!” like some kind of a maniacal mantra, it’s an incendiary return ripe for these incendiary times. Coupled with an official animated video that you can check out below, the track was produced and mixed by Adam “Atom” Greenspan (Idles, Nick Cave, Bloc Party).

With its chorus bellowed back by audiences across the continent on their European tour this Autumn, Gogol Bordello will bring their no-hold-barred live show back to Britain between 24th October and 1st November. Support will come from Son Rompe Pera, Split Dogs, & psychosleaze provocateurs Puzzled Panther (ft. Victoria Espinoza, Kay Bon Tempo, Eugene Hutz (Gogol Bordello), Brian Chase (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) & Rob Mellinger), the latter of whom will physically release their Madchester/NYC mash-up EP “Fits of Serenity” on the 24th October.

Earlier this year, alt rock band The Yagas, fronted by Oscar and Emmy-nominated actress Vera Farmiga, and Gogol Bordello released the official studio version of their take on the popular Ukrainian love song Chervona Ruta in celebration of the big Ukrainian summer holiday Kupala Night and raising awareness for UNITED24.Not to mention, Agnostic Front lead guitarist Vinnie Stigma released his new Americana album, “The Outlaw Vinnie Stigma”, via Eugene Hütz’s Casa Gogol Records, in conjunction with Generation Records.

Eugene Hütz is a Ukrainian-born artist, songwriter, and frontman of the International punk band Gogol Bordello– a rare musical force raucously illuminating stages alongside System of a Down, Rancid, and Dropkick Murphys, dueting with Regina Spektor and cutting albums with Rick Rubin & Steve Albini. A lifelong lover of the punk scene growing up in Ukraine, Hütz found himself where he felt he belonged, in New York’s Lower East Side in the late 90s, where he went to shows and later performed at the legendary CBGB. Crashing at friends’ apartments and playing acoustic sets in NYC Ukrainian bars, his group steadily grew to an 8-piece multicultural band, combining Eastern, Western, and Latin traditions. Hütz is a tireless advocate for Ukrainian solidarity, partnering with Nova Ukraine and ArtDopomoga, as well as putting together benefits with Patti Smith, The Hold Steady, Suzanne Vega, Magnetic Fields, Matisyahu, and more. Hütz has also appeared in arthouse films such as Liev Schreiber’s Everything Is Illuminated with Elijah Wood, Filth and Wisdom helmed by Madonna, and last year’s Vice documentary Scream of My Blood: A Gogol Bordello Story (Executive Producer Liev Schreiber).
