Gojira to join Metallica on 2026 M72 world tour dates
Acclaimed French metal visionaries Gojira are set to storm the stage once again as part of Metallica’s newly extended M72 World Tour, joining the heavy metal legends for a series of massive European and UK shows from May - July 2026.
The announcement follows a landmark year for Gojira, who stunned global audiences with an iconic, jaw-dropping performance of Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça ira!) at the 2024 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony in Paris. Truly a history-making moment for metal music on the world stage, the band performed with French-Swiss mezzo-soprano Marina Viotti and nearly 300 classical musicians, from the windows of Paris’ iconic Concierge amidst a grand spectacle of pyrotechnics. It also earned the band their first Grammy Award, taking home the trophy for Best Metal Performance at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, following three previous nominations.

Gojira will join Metallica and Knocked Loose on select dates of the M72 tour’s European/UK leg, which includes a mix of two-night “No Repeat Weekend” events (offering two different setlists and support acts over two nights in select cities) and single-night stadium shows, delivering massive in-the-round production across 12 cities. Additional performances (not featuring Gojira) will include support from Pantera and Avatar.
Already set to dazzle British fans with their sold-out headline set at the UK’s Bloodstock Open Air festival this August, now Gojira’s signature blend of precision and power will light up some of the biggest venues on the continent.

Formed in Bayonne, France, Gojira has emerged as one of the most influential and forward-thinking forces in modern metal. Known for their technical precision, seismic riffs, and deeply environmental and philosophical themes, the band has earned global acclaim for both their studio albums and explosive live performances, burning down all boundaries.
Gojira’s discography includes their ferocious 2001 debut “Terra Incognita”, progressive opus “The Link” (2003), and the breakout “From Mars To Sirius” (2005), which cemented their reputation as boundary-pushers in the genre. They followed with the acclaimed “The Way Of All Flesh” (2008), the genre-defying “L’Enfant Sauvage” (2012), and the trailblazing “Magma” (2016), which earned two Grammy nominations and international chart success. Their latest release, the globally praised “Fortitude” (2021), debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart and catapulted straight to #12 on the Billboard 200, while crashing into the UK Official Albums Chart at #6 and taking the #1 spot in the Top Rock & Metal Albums Chart, marking a career high.
In 2024, Gojira made history with a showstopping performance at the Paris Olympic Games Opening Ceremony and secured their first Grammy win for ‘Best Metal Performance’ at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.
With a career defined by artistic integrity and relentless evolution, Gojira continues to shape the future of heavy music on a global scale.
