Ohio thrashers Thorn announce new EP "Ready to Strike" out 26th August
Born in an Ohio basement, US thrash upstarts Thorns burst into the metal world armed with an artillery of self-recorded thrash metal songs that plug directly into the roots of the original mid-80s explosion, self-releasing two albums and multiple singles and rallying a worldwide following in under a year. High energy and volatile and as much influenced by punk and hardcore as they are metal, forthcoming EP ‘Ready To Strike’, set for release August 26th via These Go To Eleven Records, slams out of the speakers with a youthful exuberance that is both exhilarating and additive.
“Ready To Strike” EP tracklist:
1. Bad Business
2. Muzzle
3. Headcase
4. Sickfit
Following their Bad Business single back in May, Thorns are back with new anti-war track Muzzle, with a video that doesn’t hold back in showing the sheer horror of war, to a song that is charged with riffs and hooks.
“I think ‘Muzzle’ is the song we are most proud of writing so far as a band,” states bassist Peyton Smith. “As soon as we wrote the riff, we knew we had something great on our hands. Inspired by all of our favourite old school metal bands, we wanted to write a song about the most relevant war of our generation, the Iraq war, and the consequences that it’s had on those unfortunate enough to be on the front lines. The song is written from the point of view of a soldier who has been stripped of all sense of self and conditioned to kill or be killed for what he believes is right, something that he relives over and over for the rest of his life…
“Upon releasing, it instantly took us to the next level and got people excited for our future and to hear what else we could do. With the ‘Ready To Strike’ EP version, we hope to have the same effect on UK listeners and show them what we have to offer!”
