Polyphia's Tim Henson release debut solo track "Original Sin"
Today, genre-defying guitarist and innovator Tim Henson releases Original Sin, his first self-produced solo single alongside an accompanying music video and the official announcement of his forthcoming clothing brand bearing the same name.
Best known for pushing the boundaries of modern instrumental music with his band Polyphia, this song marks the first time Henson has produced, mixed, and shaped every element into a release on his own.
Originally conceived on keyboard and inspired by synth textures, Original Sin evolved into something more as Henson filtered his ideas through his own nylon-string guitar – an instrument he hasn’t centred on since Polyphia’s enigmatic track Playing God was released. The track feels both invigorating and disruptive, deliberately bending form and expectation.

Speaking on the release, Tim Henson shares, “‘Original Sin’ started as something digital with synths and keys, but once I translated it to my nylon-string guitar, everything clicked. I wanted to play with contradiction: a waltz that feels like it’s driving forward, something elegant but uncomfortable. Conceptually, it’s about choice. If you’re forced to do the right thing, it doesn’t mean anything. That idea - freedom, temptation, consequence - is something I’ve been thinking about a lot.”
The title Original Sin, which Henson frames less as a moral lesson and more as a metaphor, is about creation as a game of agency, where meaning only exists because choice does. The philosophy extends into the music video which visually reinforces these themes. The vision behind Henson’s forthcoming clothing brand launch of the same name, is a high-end, complementary creative extension of the release, merging elevated design with the same meticulous attention to detail that defines his music.
While Polyphia remains a central focus for 2026, Original Sin offers a rare, unfiltered look at Henson as a solo artist. With millions of followers across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, Henson’s influence spans far beyond the guitar world - bridging fans of music, philosophy, culture, fashion and innovation.

Today, Henson participated in an exclusive press conference at the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Show. In collaboration with Ibanez, he gave attendees a first look at five of his upcoming guitar prototypes, including the new TOD (Tree of Death) line of electric nylon-string guitars and the all-new TOD100 models, set for release later this year.
He has also done recent interviews with Rolling Stone and WIRED, that further cement his place as one of the most talked-about musicians of his generation.
Last summer, he took time out from working on the forthcoming new Polyphia album to collaborate with Hans Zimmer on the score for Hollywood blockbuster F1: The Movie.
