Rising star Finnish indie-rockers Us release new single "Man Ray"
Finnish indie band Us erupt onto the scene with Man Ray, the first release taken from their upcoming sophomore album “Everyone’s Giving Up the Cabaret”, due this summer and produced by Charlie Russell (Liam Gallagher, Alt-J, Wargasm, Kasabian).
Man Ray emerges as an energetic statement on the fragility of peace, written against a backdrop of growing global political tension. What began as a twelve-verse epic was compressed by modern chaos into a two-minute burst of punk energy - fast, restless, and raw. Vocalist Teo Hirvonen remarks: “The track is inspired by the photography of Man Ray. His images feel like fragments from a world that was shifting underneath people’s feet. Writing the song, I realised that feeling isn’t unique to the past. The music reflects the strange parallels between the era he was working in and our own moment, where geopolitical tensions and global uncertainty form part of the backdrop. The song is really about how art continues to exist and respond to the times around it.”

Us began making serious waves whilst touring with Electric Six, which would lead to a coveted support slot to legendary UK indie icons The Libertines. A connection that proved pivotal, The Libertines would invite the band to record their debut album “Underground Renaissance” at their own studio Albion Rooms, capturing an intensity and chemistry that had been building on stage and flowed naturally into the cutting room.
The release of “Underground Renaissance” led to a blazing run of shows in 2024, playing nine different sets at Glastonbury including an electrifying 3am show MOJO described as “Dr. Feelgood-style punk blues with the vigour of peak Ramones.” Signing with Sony Music Japan and Playground Music Scandinavia and with further key festival performances at the likes of Sziget, Eurosonic, Transmusicales65 and Fuji Rocks, Us have underlined their growing international reputation as one of the foremost live talents coming through right now.
With the release of Man Ray and their impending new studio album on the horizon, Us are breaking through with an informed, outspoken attitude and a growing reputation as one of the must-see live acts in the landscape. With critical attention already coming from the likes of Radio X’s
