Kiefer Sutherland / KK’s Steelmill / Wolverhampton
We’re at Wolverhampton’s iconic KK’s Steelmill to see Keifer Sutherland on his “Love Will Bring You Home” tour.
You mean Keifer Sutherland the actor ? Like in 'Stand By Me' and 'The Lost Boys'? You mean Jack Bauer from '24'. I thought this was a music site ?
Well, yes it is….. Kiefer is actually also a very talented country singer, songwriter and guitarist and his new album “Grey” is due out on the 29th May 2026.
But first, up on stage is Colin Andrew from County Kerry in Ireland. Following the acclaim of his highly anticipated debut single Too Far from Kind in 2019, he went on to release One Night, featured in Spotify’s A Breath of Fresh Eire playlist. Now based in London the Kerryman has successfully built up a reputation for emotional, powerful musicianship with the ability to make you feel as if every line he is singing is telling your story.
Stepping out into the spotlight at KK’s in a light brown suit he opens the jacket to show the crowd the Wolverhampton Wanderers shirt underneath, that cost him £20 ! The man knows how to impress a crowd lol
What impresses me right from the off, is how relaxed and funny he is. Between each song, he chats at length with the crowd, explaining songs and cracking jokes, and creates a wonderful light atmosphere. He explains he likes to start each set with a song from the town he’s in, so tonight we crack things off with a wonderful cover of Slade’s glam rock hit Cum on Feel the Noise which has the Wolverhampton crowd singing along in unison. Nice touch !
A whistle makes Colin mention his countryside roots and that he’s now thinking of sheep, prompting the joke ‘what do you call a sheep tied to a lamppost in Cardiff ? A Leisure Centre’.
The juxtaposition is spot on, as he segways onto a romantic track written about his girlfriend, who he tells us will murder him if he doesn’t sell all the merch lol.
The highlight of the set is Jurassic, which showcases his stunning vocals, with its moving and delicate delivery.
I really enjoyed Colin’s set. A skilled musician, excellent singer and funny entertainer. You couldn’t get a much better night out than a night spent in his company.

Then, it’s time for Jack Bower… I mean Kiefer Sutherland to hit the stage. His forth album “Grey” is out on May 29th via Maple Creek Records and it follows his debut “Down in a Hole” (2016), “Reckless & Me” (2019) and the most recent release “Bloor Street” (2022).
Stepping out with a wide brimmed hat to huge applause its clear right from the first note of Down Below…. This was no Hollywood actor with a ‘wannabe’ side hustle. Kiefer is a skilled musician and great singer. The setlist showcases tracks from his new album, earlier material and one or two covers thrown in for good measure.
Indeed, Next up is a welcome surprise, and a cover of the Garbage classic hit Only Happy When It Rainsmuch to the delight of the crowd who sing along to the chorus. Its an energetic version and showcases his guitar skills as he moves freely round the stage.
Taken from the new album Kiefer introduces the track Goodbye California, a fond farewell to a place that he has called home for 30 years, and that made his dreams come true.
Kiefer’s material is genuinely good, and thoroughly enjoyable. Chasing the Rain is a great example, which has that almost campfire song feel about it, singing about life on the road, going from town to town separated from your loved ones ‘like a band on the run, chasing the rain’. It’s evocative and emotional.
And that’s what sits at the heart of Kiefer’s sound - It’s a kind of mix of gritty country and some good old rock, all with lyrics that tell a tale. He also touches on political issues too, such as on American Farmerabout the struggles faced by smaller independent farmers across the US.
Something You Love from “Reckless and Me” is my highlight of the set. A song about meeting an old friend and over a drink talking about life and realising life is for livin’ – to do the things you love - “Dance all night til the moonlights gone”. Its fast, raucous and fun.
Throughout, there is a sense of realism, not just songs about ‘other things’ but things Kiefer has experienced and lived through. It’s music right from the heart. Things slow a little for See You on the Other Side, a beautiful tribute to those that have lost loved ones. Simpler Times also from the forthcoming new album, is a real highlight, a heartfelt call for a return to a simpler time, a fresh start.
The main set ends with Agave which has a delightful and playful bluesy start and guitar lick running through it. Kiefer’s voice takes on a husky tone on the vocals and the crowd are dancing along. Its catchy and fast paced.
Returning for a two song encore, I’m surprised by the next track, a cover of the Phil Collins hit In the Air Tonight which Kiefer gives a unique playful twist and the crowd lap it up. The night draws to a close with Starlight.
As the last notes faded away I reflected on the show. Kiefer Sutherland has a fantastic voice just made for that bluesy country style and he delivers song after song. Packed with energy and intensity, some of the crowd may have been drawn by the name, but I’m sure they all walked away fans of his music.
The new album “Grey” is out 29th May on Maple Creek Records.
