Netherwilds declare war on the crown with new album "Peasant Rising"
What started as a quest to recover a stolen goat has become a sprawling tale of betrayal, vengeance and revolution. Today, medieval metal oddities NETHERWILDS bring their fantastical saga to life with the release of their debut album, Peasant Rising, available now via King Volume Records.
Spanning 22 tracks of blackened metal, medieval folk, doom and wonderfully absurd storytelling, Peasant Rising follows the misadventures of Worm Chewer, a lowly peasant whose increasingly disastrous journey through a kingdom of corrupt rulers, mythical creatures and questionable allies has led him to an extraordinary revelation: the very king he once served is responsible for his suffering.
No longer content to wallow in the muck, Worm Chewer has found strength among his fellow peasants, assembling a ragtag rebellion determined to overthrow the crown and reclaim what was stolen from them. With the wisdom of the Muck Mages and the growing might of the Humble Horde behind him, his personal vendetta has become a rallying cry for an entire kingdom.
With Peasant Rising finally upon us, Worm Chewer has issued a message directly to the throne:
"I hope the king reads this. I hope he sees the steady hand with which I draw my quill now. Your majesty, there is a price to pay. For in my travels I have learned, by the wisdom of the Muck Mages and the courage of the Humble Horde, that my goat wasn't stolen by my bride to be, it was stolen by you. It was you who left us broken and toiling, with oaths of nothing. You who left us fighting over scraps, in the muck and the mire. But I have sung my song and the peasantry has answered. For they too had a goat. And they too have a reason to exact a price upon you. The PEASANT RISING will creep up from beneath you. We shall be ungovernable. We shall be as one. We shall take the way you took from us - without asking. And when you fall and when the bell rings for the death of his majesty, I shall listen for a different bell. The bell hanging about the neck of my stolen beast. Until then there shall be no silence. Until then our rallying cry shall echo in the halls and fields of your shrinking kingdom...RETURN...THE...GOAT!"

Blending ferocious riffs, atmospheric passages, folk-inspired melodies and theatrical storytelling, NETHERWILDShave created a record that is as unpredictable as the characters who inhabit it.
