NOSO shares "Who Made You This sweet?"
Korean-American singer-songwriter NoSo has shared the latest single from his anticipated sophomore album “When Are You Leaving?” (out 10th October via Partisan Records). You can watch the video for Who Made You This Sweet? below:
A departure from the grittiness of Don’t Hurt Me, I’m Trying, Who Made You This Sweet? gently pulls listeners into the heart of a tender moment. The stripped-down production consisting solely of a finger-picked acoustic guitar, a single soft synth, and NoSo’s breathy, layered vocals embody intimacy in its purest form. The song captures a deep sense of vulnerability and a closeness that remains eternally as Baek reflects upon the feeling of being fully seen and appreciated. Accompanied by plucky harmonics and (actual) birdsong, the sensitivity of Who Made You This Sweet? contains a groundedness that recenters ‘When Are You Leaving?’ amidst other moments of emotional intensity.
When reflecting on the song, Baek states: “This was the first song I wrote for the album, and it’s always held a special weight for me. It’s a bittersweet reflection on someone who made me feel deeply seen and the kind of rare kindness that stays with you. I wrote it while living in a quiet house with French doors that opened to the backyard, where the light would pour in and birds would sing in the mornings…That house, and that relationship, will always live in a tender corner of my memory.”
Who Made You This Sweet? follows the album’s second single Don’t Hurt Me, I’m Trying, which premiered last month accompanied by a taped live session HERE.
Sugar was also premiered via The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s online music series, watch that HERE.
“When Are You Leaving?” is a record for anyone still figuring themselves out, and one that proves NoSo to be one of this generation's most compelling songwriters. The album follows NoSo’s 2022 debut “Stay Proud Of Me” which earned rave reviews and praise from NPR’s All Songs Considered, Paste, The Guardian, and a stunning performance at Tiny Desk.
Largely self-produced, “When Are You Leaving?” sharpens NoSo’s artistry into something at once more expansive and more intimate. It’s an album about the subtle, slow-burning victories that come after walking away from what no longer serves you. Hwong’s music is rich with contrast: thorny lyrics nestled in shimmering arrangements, quiet moments of self-recognition delivered with the confidence of a born storyteller. Across disco grooves, jagged guitars, and spacious ballads, they reflect on fractured relationships, platonic heartbreak, and the complexity of being perceived.
NoSo will tour extensively behind “When Are You Leaving?” and has confirmed a run of headline North American dates for the fall as well as UK/EU headline dates into 2026. The routing includes an October 24th date at Baby’s All Right in NYC, and a November 12th hometown show in LA at Masonic Lodge, Hollywood Forever. Tickets HERE.
$1 from all North American ticket sales will go to LIFEBEAT, a program of The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, to contribute to their youth support services.
